When I started bullet journaling, I started to feel a sense of calm and organization. During this time, I realized that I had the potential to be a better version of me, but I had no idea about how to go about even starting that idea. Then I found the Level 10 Life from Hal Elrod’s Miracle Morning and realized that to become a better person as a whole, I first had to identify all the parts in my life that needed work.

Hal Elrod says “If we’re measuring our levels of success/satisfaction in any area of our lives, we all want to be living our best lives at a “Level 10” in each area.”
Then I knew that I had to make this spread! With inspiration all over Pinterest and Instagram, it’s easy to find a way that works for you. Since Elrod explains it as a “wheel of assessment”, I decided to stick to the traditional pie chart layout.
But before I even started to pull out my compass and ruler, I first had to pull out a blank page and a pen.
Choosing your level
The Level 10 Life is broken into 10 separate categories:
- Family and Friends
- Personal Growth
- Significant Other
- Health and Fitness
- Physical Environment
So to start creating your spread, you need to understand what level you’re at in each. There’s no scoring system on this, just how you truly feel about each category.
For example, in giving, I feel like the only thing I give is an offering at church and even then, it’s only every few weeks (or months, let’s be honest), so I gave myself a 2 out of 10. Yet with my significant other, I just got married and we live happily together so I gave myself a 9 out of ten.
Once you’ve figured out your numbers, then the creativity can flow!
Making your graph
I’ve created two Level 10 Life spreads and have used the pie graph for both, yet differing in the construct of each. Others have used bar graphs, icon graphs, a row of hearts, and many other different creative ideas. It is in a bullet journal and a bullet journal is all about uniqueness. So do what works for you!
I started by using a protractor to creating lines every 36˚, creating ten intersecting lines. You don’t have to be super precise if you don’t want to. I just like to see each chunk in the same size. Next, I used a compass to create ten rings that are measured equally apart from the intersection point.
Once you have them all drawn out, the fun part begins! Color in each “pie slice” in accordance to each category. This is your basis for your Level 10 life.
Now what do I do with this?
So you have a pretty, colorful pie chart. Now what? Now is when you create goals to help fill in each chunk until it is 100% full!
On the opposite page, create two or three goals for each category that would help to fill in your circle.
