DIY Photo Banner and DIY Photo Magnets

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Fujifilm Wonder Photo Shop for IZEA. All opinions are 100% mine.

This past weekend the first Fujifilm Wonder Photo Shop in North America opened in NYC. Situated in the heart of the Flatiron district, the Wonder Photo Shop is part retail store, part print center and part interactive workshop. I actually did a whole post about the opening last week.

If you are a lover of photos and crafts, you’ve officially found your new home. Not only can you print photos from your phone on site, play with fun cameras like the instax®, and hang out with like-minded people, but you can also create beautiful products to take home.

As I shared in last weeks post, I was really bummed to have to miss out on the opening weekend. Luck for me, Fujifilm sent me an instax® mini of my very own so I still got to have some of the fun at home!
For those of you who aren’t familiar, the instax® is a camera that prints photos and develops them as soon as you take the photo. I can’t tell you how amazed my toddler was with this thing. Magic, I tell you.
I’ve come up with so many ideas for how I will use these around my house, and even to bring some of my personal life into the office with me. The first two projected I decided to tackle were a hanging banner to display notes and photos above my desk, and photo magnets to liven up my family calendar.

DIY Photo Magnets

DIY Photo Magnets!
The magnets were pretty straight forward. I purchased business card magnets and stuck the photo right on. There was maybe a few millimeters of extra magnet so I just cut that off so it wouldn’t overhang.  DIY Photo Magnets!
Sorry for the black & white photo, but I have horrible lighting in my kitchen where this wall calendar lives and so the raw shot of this was very, very orange. Keepin’ it real.

Next up was the DIY photo banner. This took a few extra moments (and supplies) but still was about a 15 minute project and I absolutely love the outcome.

For supplies, I used:
  • my instax® mini photos
  • string
  • command hooks
  • mini clothespins
  • tape

DIY Photo Banner I first hung two clear command hooks on the wall to tie the string to. I find this to be better than putting holes in my wall since I move my decor around so much. It’s hard to see in the photo because of the gray walls, but they are truly not obvious in person either. DIY Photo Banner I tied the string to each of the hooks, leaving just a little slack. I attached the photos to the string using a small piece of tape (for extra security) and the mini clothespins. I think decorative mini binder clips could be cute too, but this is what I had on hand from another project. DIY Photo Banner I then hung a little sticky note quote I made in the center, along with a few sticky notes I had on my desk that required action/attention today. DIY Photo Banner I couldn’t be happier with the outcome and will probably make one of these for my husbands desk too. I’m not going to lie, I love myself a good matchy-matchy. Whether you decide to DIY a photo project with the  instax® camera, or head over to the Fujifilm Wonder Photo Shop in NYC, be sure to share your projects and check out others on the Wonder Photo Shop NYC on Facebook page!
