Yes.. you read that correctly. I am suggesting you use your bullet journal to entertain guests. But hear me out…
My Mom recently got into Bullet Journaling, and one of the first spreads she tackled was a “things to do around town” for her guests. She has 5 sisters and 2 kids, and my Step-Dad has 2 brothers and 5 children. They live on the beach in Connecticut and spend much of their time in the sand or out on the water. As I’m sure you can imagine, their home is full of visitors year round but even more so in the summer.
My Mom loves to entertain, but with so much to do in the area, sometimes it’s hard to think of things in the moment. To help with the “what should we do today” question, my Mom put together a list of “Fun Things to Do in 2016”, including a key that indicates the season. Keep in mind, we live in New England so you’re not going to go boating in the winter or skiing in the summer the way you might be able to in other parts of the country and world.
She also created an “Around Town” list which gives visitors a sense of what they can do locally within the town. This may be more challenging for folks who come from more rural or small towns, but there is always a lot going on in her town so this was pretty easy to put together.
Not only did I think this was a very creative idea, but an incredibly productive one as well. I don’t know about you, but no matter how well I know my area it’s hard to remember all of the things to do (especially weather/season permitting) when asked. This can be a quick reference for her, or something she copies for guests during their stay.
