There is a lot of research to support the idea that we should cut back on the time we spend looking at screens. Spending too much time looking at a computer or phone screen can affect your sleep patterns, eyesight, mood, and much more. However, in the technological world we live in, it can be very difficult to cut back. This page contains affiliate links. Read my full disclosure.
Everything is online nowadays, from books and recipes to exercise programs. It can be quite a challenge to get through a day without referencing the internet for something, and while this can be a blessing, the same rule goes for this as everything else – moderation.
I have recently gotten into the habit of transcribing pages that I reference often into my bullet journal. Now, you can always print and paste them in (as I described this post) but I have found that there are many benefits to taking the time to hand-write some of them.First, there is research to suggest that writing things down can help you to remember them – that is why it is better to take notes by hand rather than on a computer. Additionally, I enjoy taking the time to combine the information I am writing with some creativity, by decorating the page or taking visual notes. And finally, by doing this with information I reference often, I ultimately cut down on the amount of time I spend looking at a computer screen.
I have gone through this process with recipes I make often, exercise programs I want to try, and anything that I am currently learning about and want to reference often. I find the process to be incredibly therapeutic, and it is so much more fun to reference my bullet journal rather than the internet – it reminds me of the good old fashioned process of looking something up in a book! Additionally, it is really fun to look back through the months and see what I was learning about or doing this time last year, or a couple of months ago!
Do you have any other ideas for reference pages in your bujo? We’d love to see them!
I would love to see some of your recipe pages! This idea of creating reference pages is actually how I became interested in bullet journaling. I have too many favorite recipes in too many different places, so I would like to create a section in my journal dedicated to bringing them all together along with other references to being healthy. I am new to BuJo though and am struggling with finding recipe inspiration that is creative yet not entirely illustrated (which is beyond my talents right now).
