I’m always looking for easy, fun, and seasonally appropriate crafts to do with my kids. It’s rare for a weekend to go by where we don’t do some kind of ‘arts and crafts’ project, and as we get close to the holidays I like to do as many holiday themed projects as we can.

This one is pretty easy, although I would recommend doing the cutting and gluing before your kids get involved. If they are anything like mine, they will have scissor and glue-gun envy, which will likely result in a meltdown when Mommy says no.
While I only used pom-pom’s in the sample below, there is so much you can do in terms of tree decoration! Sequins, beads, glitter, puff paint, and confetti are just a few other things you could use to dress your tree.
I think these would make adorable place card holders when you dress your holiday table. Place on top of each guests plate with their name on them, and watch your kids beam in excitement when they get to show off their work to their favorite people.
Supplies:
- 3 paper plates – the ones with ridges look most authentic!
- Green paint & a paint brush
- Glue
- Hot glue gun
- 1 yellow pom pom
- 10-15 red and white pom pom’s
- Sequins, beads, and anything else you want to use as ornaments
Directions:
Cut a slit halfway through the fist plate & shape it into a cone.

Do the same for the other two plates, and then cut out a circle into the middle of the plates.

Form the other two plates into cones as well, creating a medium sized cone and a smaller cone for the top. Using your hot glue gun, glue the outer side of the plate into place to hold the cone shapes.

Add a ring of glue to the inside of the medium and small cones on the bottom edge. This will hold your cones together when you stack them to make a tree shape.

Paint your completed tree shape green. Let this dry before continuing.

Using regular glue, or hot glue, add a yellow pom pom to the top of the tree, then, decorate your tree with the red and white pom poms.

This is so cute! I have to remember this for when my baby girl is old enough. Thanks for sharing!
