Jen shared her September bullet journal setup a few days ago so I figured it was time to show you all how I get ready for a new month!
Before I dive into the month, I like to reflect on the previous month. This is kind of a month-in-review meets brain dump. I make sure I highlight memories, big wins for the month and anything else I want to remember from the prior month.
I also include some quick goals for the next month and any big events that I’m looking forward to.
Next I start each month with a fresh monthly calendar spread. This is the core of my monthly bullet journal setup.
This layout seems to work for me as I absolutely love the calendar view. It’s super important for me to know what’s going on week to week, especially since I’m in the middle of volleyball season and well – things get crazy.
Once I know what the month looks like from the calendar perspective, I like to do a major brain dump (a David Allen, Getting Things Done technique) Which basically means putting everything that’s in your head, onto paper.
Once everything is on paper, sorting into actionable items from there. Here is my brain dump from September…
This helps me start off fresh with a new month, and of course make my plan of attack! I add any actionable items to to-do lists, or schedule them for a certain day/weekend/etc.
Here is what my goals and brain dump pages look like, they’re pretty basic because I like to keep the most room for all my thoughts and ideas.
Last but not least is my gratitude spread. This is something new I’m trying this month (thanks to Jen!) My approach on this was another simple calendar view where I could put down one thing that I’m grateful for each day.
How are you all getting ready for October?!
