If you are like me, buying washi is a little bit of an addition. Before you know it, it’s quickly piling up all over the place.

Being a chronic organizer, I had to find a solution. Instead, I found many! I wanted to share with you two ways I do it, along with some tips I found around the web!
When I first starting buying washi, I would store it in a mason jar. This served as both a convenient way to see what I had and grab things easily, but also as a fun decoration for my office!
Over time, my stash started to over flow.
Where most people would stop buying washi, I decided to upgrade my storage plan. I needed something:
- big enough to store a fair amount of washi
- I could see each roll of washi easily
- pretty
- stores easily
I found a tackle box (like this) with adjustable dividers and thought it would be PERFECT. So far, it has lived up to that expectation. I love that all of the rolls fit perfectly in the compartments.
I’m also able to keep some extra stickers in here, along with a pair of small scissors for precision cutting.
You could put a small ruler in here too if you are a bullet journal supply addict and want an alternative to the bullet journal supply caddy.
Other ideas I love?
- Store it on copper pipe (via Something Turquoise)
- Use a wire hanger from the dry cleaner (via Silly Old Suitcase)
- Use an expanding wall organizer (via 2 Left Hands)
- Display in a pretty bowl (via The Crafted Life)
Those are some of my favorites! I would love for you to share yours in the comments below.
I keep mine in a similar box to yours but my collection is no where near as extensive! I love the copper pipe idea, very cool!
This is a fun post. I am so addicted to washi. Right now I keep them in a few mason jars, which have started overflowing as of recently. I hope you will share this at my new link party: The Crafty Corner! 🙂
These are such great ideas! I’m torn between trying the tackle box and the hanger to organize my ever growing washi collection. Pinned and sharing. Thanks for linking up at Family Joy Blog Link-up Party this week!
love these tips! and they make beautiful displays, as well! I will be able to adapt some of these to use with my collection of ribbons and strings too.
Love all these great ideas. My washi tape is stored in a plastic container, but yeah… it’s starting to overflow. 🙂 Love the clothes hanger idea. Because everyone has clothes hangers. 🙂 But I guess you’ve got to have some heavy duty pliers to cut and bend the wire. May have to get my husband to help me.
Right now I keep mine in an open top container but I really need to store my washi more creatively!
I have an obsession with washi tape!
I just love my washi tape and keep collecting more – LOL. I am with you on keeping things organized too!
Great ideas, Jen! Thanks for sharing with us this week at Throwback Thursday!

Great ideas. I love Washington tape. Thanks for joining us at the Inspiration Spotlight party. Shared
Since I mostly buy skinny washi tape, I take used Scotch tape containers, cut a special insert from scrapbook paper to make it pretty, and then put two rolls on. Not perfect, but I like to reuse things whenever possible.
Another easy option is to use an empty cupcake liner container. The ones I get are clear so I can see all the colors and designs, but the sizes are limited.
