Despite my best efforts, some days our mornings can still be a little chaotic. I try to prep as much as I can in advance, including meals and outfits, yet there is always one who refuses to wear what I picked or wants something we don’t have for breakfast.
The one thing they both agree on, however, is resisting getting their hair done at all cost.

For the past 2 years I’d been storing their hair accessories, which was mostly elastics and small clips, in an empty baby wipes container. It was small enough to leave on the kitchen counter, since I do hair while they eat their breakfast, but large enough to hold the accessories, a brush, and even some de-tangler.
As I worked through trying to declutter the house through the KonMari method, the container started to become more and more of an eye sore for me. Additionally, my oldest was now starting to try out other accessories so it would take me some time to fish through the container to find what she considered to be the perfect clip.Since I’d been decluttering, I had a drawer full of random things that were nice to have, but not necessary. You know that drawer — it’s just full of stuff that you are keeping because you might, someday, maybe use. Well I decided I’d rather replace that drawer with something that would get used every day. We call it — the hair station drawer.
I decided an acrylic drawer organizer (this one) would be the best way to go. I sorted by type and put the brushes, combs, and de-tangler in the middle. We did have to add a little child-proof lock to the drawer to keep little fingers at bay, but so far we are loving this new setup!
If you have more variety of accessories (we are a boring pony-tale family in this house), or an uncommon shaped drawer, I love this interlocking organizer from Target.
