Why use a paper planner in a digital age? That always seems to be the first question I get when people see my bullet journal. Well my friends, if you don’t know it already I’m telling you now… I LOVE my paper journal! I could carry on for pages with all the reasons why to use a paper planner instead of an app or some other digital solution but I’ll just leave you with these 3 reasons why I use a paper planner!
Therapeutic
There’s something soothing about putting pen to paper (or marker, or highlighter 🙂 ) Not only does it relax you but it also gives your eyes time away from a screen. I know by the end of the day the last thing I want to look at is a computer, phone or any other type of screen.
Improves Memory
As David Allen says, writing something down and envisioning yourself actually doing it makes you more likely to remember it! This is especially true when it comes to goals and of course my to-do list.
Brings out creativity
Using a paper planner allows you to get outside the box! Bullet journaling allows a more flexibility than most planners, but paper planners offer infinitely more flexibility than some app or the notes on your phone. You’re free to doodle, make lists, write your thoughts or anything that comes to mind. And you can flip back through at any point. This is what makes me happiest about paper planners 🙂
I’ll leave you with one of my favorite quotes from Jeff Olson, “Sometimes you need to go slow to go fast.” This couldn’t hold more true in my life and maybe it will for you too!
